To end the 2025 show season, what better way to get us dancing than with this legendary band? Pure 90s rock. Long live Quebec punk rock.
Fueled by sugary cereal, neon Pop Tarts, and early ’90s French punk, Les Marmottes Aplaties were born between two chemical cornfields in the suburbs of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. From the few crooked and stupid demos of their beginnings, Les Marmottes kept the energy and derision, refining their little garage-punk firebrands over the course of their albums. 1001 chansons pour embellir vos repas (1996), Épisode sanglant (1999), and Décadents (2002) marked Les Marmottes Aplaties’ absurd and unpretentious punk epic, until their abrupt end in 2004 (before a remarkable comeback thanks to the vinyl reissue of their three albums in 2018). A cult group from the Montreal underground, Les Marmottes left a legacy of lively and funny punk songs that were recently reissued on three vinyl records accompanied by a digital album of previously unreleased tracks.
